It is official... the Bryan Brothers have claimed their place in history books as the best Davis Cup duo ever.
Bob & Mike Bryan were clearly deserving doubles stars when they graced the cover of American Doubles... the Trials... the Triumphs... the Domination last May, but their legacy just seems to be getting brighter. After winning the Australian Open and then Delray Beach ITF, the Brothers Bryan headed to Davis Cup to make history.
On March 7, 2009, Bob & Mike Bryan won their 15th Davis Cup match. It put the duo in the record books as the winningest Davis Cup team ever, surpassing another legendary American doubles team -- Peter Fleming & John McEnroe. The only two Davis Cup matches they didn't win for the United States were in 2005 to Croatia and last year against France. The Bryans will have a chance to take this record even further at the next Davis Cup match in July against Croatia, after the French Open and Wimbledon, and just before the U.S. Open.
There isn't even a hint of retirement discussion for the 30 year old twins. It appears they will be leading the world of American Doubles for many years to come.
