There was no stronger place for the presence of American Doubles than in the Wimbledon Ladies final where three out of four of the participants were from the United States. Taking home the trophy were sisters Venus & Serena Williams, who also were the singles winner and finalist respectively. The other American who made it to the end of that event was Lisa Raymond, who partnered with Samantha Stosur of Australia. Samantha was a winner with Bob Bryan. Though the Bryan Brothers lost in the semifinals of Men's Doubles, they both made it to the Mixed final, facing each other on opposite ends of the court for only the second time in a Grand Slam title match. It evened the score as Mike and Lisa Raymond were the winners at the 2002 U.S. Open

Some former American Men's Doubles stars also showed they still have it at Wimbledon as Donald Johnson & Jared Palmer were the winners in Gentlemen's Invitational Doubles and Ken Flach & Roberts Seguso were Senior Gentlemen's Invitational Doubles titlests.

On the USTA Pro Circuit, Todd Widom & Michael Yani were the winners at the Winnetka, IL, event and Treat Huey and partner Somdev Devvarman made it two in a row by taking the Pittsburgh tournament.

In college news, the University of Alabama hired former NCAA Doubles finalist (and pro doubles player) Bo Hodge as the new Men's Assistant Coach.

Promotions and signings for American Doubles... the Trials... the Triumphs... the Domination will take place this week at the World TeamTennis match in Mamaroneck on Thursday, July 10th when Serena Williams, Justin Gimelstob, Scott Oudsema & Brian Wilson -- all featured in the book -- will take the stage. From there it's off to Newport, Rhode Island, where the book will be celebrated with the play of some of its featured stars, John Isner, Donald Young, Brian & Dann Battistone and Scott Lipsky & David Martin (above) at the Campbells Hall of Fame Championships.
